design:
Raising awareness for the environment
Andrew Jung
Design can create change.
During 10th to 12th grade, I led environmental art projects and co-founded the global non-profit organization (@ecolloquy) to support and spread environmental awareness.

From Design to Donation:
Spreading Hope Worldwide
During my time at the Design and Media Conservatory at the
Orange County School of the Arts (OCSA), I learned how to
communicate with the world through visual messages.
Through my graphic design and digital art classes, I discovered ways
to express my personal motto — to create change through art.
This experience became the foundation of my artistic direction and strengthened my belief that design can be a powerful voice for
awareness.
From 2023 to 2025, I launched a personal campaign through a series of eco-bag designs inspired by global environmental issues.
Each bag represents a different country and raises awareness of its unique ecological challenges — from ocean pollution to desertification.
By donating these designs to environmental organizations in each country, I aim to connect people through art and inspire global responsibility.
I will continue to explore and express environmental issues across borders through creative and meaningful design

D to D refers to the message: Design to Doantion. This phrase simply provides context regarding the process of my work. What initiated as a simple design turned into a donation, which is impacting over 500+ individuals, reaching close to 10k products.

Donation Progress
Working along with my brother for the Non-Profit Organization Ecolloquy, I created 10+ different designs for various countries in the World. I emphasized the environmental issues specific to each countries.
Ecolloquy has made a global impact by creating over 7500+ eco-friendly items, reducing plastic/fashion waste, reducing CO2 emission by approximately 70,000lbs.

Reaching 10+ countries, we've raised awareness about conscious consumerism, positively affecting over 8300+ people. In our 3 successful workshops, we educated 300 students on upcycling and effective composting.

Logo Design

My earliest memories include planting trees with my family on Earth Day. Watching tiny seeds grow into living trees taught me the beauty of care, patience, and renewal. That experience stayed with me and later inspired my logo design, a symbol of growth and possibility. The theme of germination reflects my belief that every creative idea, no matter how small, can bloom into something meaningful and vibrant when nurtured with persistence and heart.

From Idea to Creation

1.
Drew the general map of affected area (Pacific Ocean)
2.
Indicated that the Pacific Garbage patch is in a close proximity to California
3.
Emphasized the impact size and the location
4.
Marked the severity of impact
5.
Filled up the affected area with symbols of pollutants
6.
Placed landmarks of countries that contributed to the pollution
Final Designs:

Ghost Town: Investigsating the devastating effects of compounded garbage, I discovered the exsitecne of “The Great Pacific Garbage Patch. The Great Pacific Patch is the final destination of the allocated garbage thrown away. There are six major countries that contrivbuted to this compounded garbage: the United States(Hawaii, California, New York), Taiwan, China, Japan, and Korea.
Front: I represented the severity of pollution through a series of landamrks of the contributing countries to this crisis along with pieces of trash resonating the composition of buildings.
Back: I have emphasized the impact size of the compounded trash, and indicated the location of the trash.

Made with Purpose
The intention behind creating this eco bag project was to promote sustainable living through everyday actions. I wanted to design something practical yet meaningful—an item that people could use daily while being reminded of their role in protecting the environment. The eco bag symbolizes a small but powerful shift from disposable habits to reusable alternatives. Through this project, my goal was to combine design with environmental awareness, showing that creativity can inspire responsibility.

From Idea to Creation

This image demonstrates the impact size and the significance of the pollution. Likewise, it also shows the severity per region.

This picture shows the scenery of the city from the perspective of the desert side. This picture was used as a reference for the scenery of the desert.
Idea Sketch

This is a full view of the city from the point of view of an individual walking throught the desert. I tried to share the message that the impact of global warming can affect the drawn city as well.

This sketch was inspired by the melting flip flops due to high temperature. I believe that this could be a good representation and signal towards the current stage of global warming.
More Sketches

San Diego: For San Diego, I concentrated on grasping the central problem and value of San Diego: Water. I tried out different ways of illustration that would address this problem.

Seoul: For Seoul, I sketched drawings of the whole globe, insinuating that the emission problem is not only limited to Seoul, but to the whole globe. Then, I drew the scenery of Seoul to provide context of where the emission starts.
